One might ask, how did you end up getting a wedding in Seneca, Kansas!?! That is a great question! I have always believed in creating relationships with other photographers. With photographer friends who live in Kansas my name was passed on to a wonderful couple – Jillisa and Brandon! After a long phone call with Jillisa upon booking I knew that their wedding was going to be awesome! Their wedding was not my first visit to Kansas, my best friend moved to Kansas a couple years ago to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan. Ironically I am wearing my K-State t-shirt as I write this blog post today! Since I had visited before, I wasn’t completely shocked at the flat farm land or warm temperatures. Kansas is a lot different from New England in many ways and having the opportunity to shoot a wedding in Seneca is something that I will always cherish.

On Jillisa and Brandon’s wedding day, we unfortunately had a nice little rain storm move through all morning. Rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, right? There was no time to be worried about the rain, Jillisa has an attention to detail and had so many small details for me to photograph – it was a dream!! She also has been a bridesmaid in multiple weddings and had the idea of having a photo with all of the dresses with her wedding gown. It was adorable!! Jillisa has a very large family and she is one of the youngest siblings so she had a lot of dresses from previous weddings! Once Jillisa was ready, her and Brandon had an emotional first look in their church before the ceremony. Brandon was already starting to get emotional as he heard her heels on the tile floor, it was the sweetest! He was SO excited to see his gorgeous bride. The church holds a special importance in both of their lives and having a Catholic wedding was the perfect ceremony for them. After the ceremony we had a lot of fun with the bridal party and with Jillisa and Brandon. Brandon surprised everyone by having cowboy hats for all of his guys – it was perfect! We even hit the famous Seneca Bar, Spanky’s, before heading to the reception. Jillisa’s attention to detail followed to the reception and she even had a vintage bike as a decoration that we later used for photos. The day went by so incredibly fast and I feel so honored that without even meeting me in person Jillisa and Brandon trusted me with one of the most important days of their lives. I had an amazing time and I wish them the happiest life together!
